Meet The Staff....    

 

Head Coach

Coach Lou Ciurca is the founder and head instructor of Knickerbocker Baseball Academy.  His love and passion for the game as a player has inspired him to pass on his knowledge to young players. Coach Lou is known for his extensive knowledge of hitting, pitching, fielding, and game strategy.  He implements highly organized and efficient practices while continuing to motivate and teach during games.  Coach Lou takes pride in his work and has fun doing it. 

In the past two years, Lou won back to back West Cost National Championships with the Show (14U) while taking KBA (10U) in its first year to a 2nd place finish in the Nation (Super Series).  For the past three years, Coach Lou has been the Assistant Head Coach for The Show.  During his tenure at the Show, Lou was the Pitching and Infield Coach.  In 2004 he was the Head Coach for the Sombrero Peak Posse.  In just two short months he led the team to an 8th place finish in the 8 year old West Coast World Series.  From 2002 – 2003 he assisted The Show Jr. Olympic Team to a 12th place ranking in the national tournament.  

Lou began his coaching career as the Assistant Head Varsity Coach at Mountain View High School in 1999.  He conducted the fall and summer Varsity programs as well as head the hitting and pitching instruction for the team.  In 2001 Lou became Head Coach of the Junior Varsity program at Mountain View High School.  The team accumulated a 31-6 record in his two year stint.   His overall record at Mountain View High School was an impressive 72-16. From there Lou went on for a two year stint as the Head Coach for St. Gregory College Prep.

Lou has been successful in his baseball career because of his passion for the game.  Although he is aggressive in his approach to baseball, he remains a consistent teacher and motivator to each player. 

 

Assistant Head Coach

Jason Fallwell brings eighteen years of baseball experience to KBA. Coach Fallwell has developed a reputation of being a player's coach in his five year stint of high school coaching. In 1997 he was an Assistant coach in the Sabino High School program.  From 1998-2000 and 2004-2006 he served as the Varsity hitting coach at Palo Verde High School.

Coach Fallwell is a Palo Verde High School graduate, where he earned his reputation as a player. He was an All City player and Second Team All State at Palo Verde in 94 and All Region in 94 as well as Second team All Region in 93. Fallwell attended and played Varsity baseball for Cochise College from 1994-1996.

 

Assistant Coach

Jim Michalski has been with K.B.A for two years. Coach Jim is our 12u bench coach and has been a great asset to the program with his enthusiasm and love for the game.

Jim Michalski was the Varsity shortstop for the University of Rochester from 1980-1984.

When he is not dedicating his time to K.B.A Jim also coaches in Sabino Little League and Sabino Little League All-Stars.
